| Gastrolith means gastric stone, and these stones, found in the body cavity of dinosaurs, were one of the earliest clues that dinosaurs may be related to birds. Birds, just like dinosaurs swallow stones that are kept in a "crop" to aid in the digestion of food. Many dinosaur skeletons have been discovered with a number of these stones still in place. |
