THIS IS A MUSEUM-CAST-REPLICA OF THE LARGEST CAVE BEAR SKULL EVER UNCOVERED! THIS HUGE BEAR, Standing 12 feet in heigth and weighing over 2000 pounds roamed the forests of what is today called Romania. It was larger then any of our current species of bear. Estimates indicate that this creature lived in the Pleistocene age at approximately 20,000- 50,000 years ago. Extinction may have partly been attributed to climatic changes and hunting "pressure" by early man. The origional is in the private collection of David E. Speltzer and was found in a cave outside of Brasso, Romania in 1985.

This skull is cast in Resin for extreme detail and long-lasting durability!

NOTE: both the upper and lower canine teeth on the right side are considerably more worn than those on the left. This indicates that the bear tended to be "right-handed", and had a habit of cracking open the bones of its prey using primarily the right side of its jaw, a most interesting fact!
